oUR sTORY
1818 Builders began as T&S Custom Projects, founded by Tim and Susanna, who combined their years of craftsmanship experience to create a company dedicated to quality and tradition. Their goal was simple: to bring the value of true craftsmanship to their community and family.
With a deep appreciation for history and legacy, Tim and Susanna purchased the Thomas Chew Marshallville House, a historic home built in 1818, with the vision of restoring it to its former glory. This restoration became a family endeavor, involving not only Tim and Susanna but also their children and the dedicated crew members of their company.
As the business grew rapidly, it became clear that it needed a name that reflected more than just its founders—it needed an identity of its own. Thus, 1818 Builders was born. The name represents the family's journey of restoring a historic home, a tribute to craftsmanship that stands the test of time. It embodies the core values of the company: dedication, quality, and a commitment to building and restoring with integrity.
At 1818 Builders, we strive to bring timeless craftsmanship into every project, ensuring that the work we do today will be valued for generations to come.
Our Faith & Values
Our faith is at the core of who we are—not just in our personal lives but in everything we do as a company. While we respect and cherish the freedoms in this country, we want to be transparent about what guides us.
We believe in the saving work of our Lord Jesus Christ and the authority of the Bible as God’s Word. This belief isn’t just a statement; it shapes the way we live, work, and conduct business. It calls us to uphold principles such as honesty, integrity, service, humility, wisdom, and accountability.
Do we always get it right? No. That’s why we need Christ. When mistakes happen, we take responsibility and do our best to make things right—because our goal is to reflect the grace, truth, and growth that faith brings into our lives.
We share this not to impose our beliefs on anyone but to help you understand the foundation of our work ethic and commitment to excellence. Regardless of faith or background, we value and respect every customer we serve.
Do We Even Build?
The answer is… well, it’s a bit complicated. Technically, the term "builder" applies to what we do—especially in the modern sense—but at this time, we do not construct new homes.
The Builders part of our name reflects both our history and our vision for the future. While we are committed to the home improvement sector, we also have plans in motion to expand into home building. But not just any new builds—our focus will be on timber frame homes.
Timber frame construction is an ancient, time-tested craft that has produced homes lasting for centuries. We aim to revive this tradition, blending its artistry with the advantages of modern technology and innovation.
So, do we build? For now, we specialize in improving and restoring homes—but stay tuned, because exciting things are on the horizon.
