OUR STORY
1818 Builders began as T&S Custom Projects, founded by Tim and Susanna with a shared passion for craftsmanship and a desire to serve their community through quality work. Their goal was simple: bring true craftsmanship and honest workmanship back to home improvement.
With a deep appreciation for history and legacy, Tim and Susanna later purchased the Thomas Chew Marshallville House, a historic home built in 1818, with the vision of restoring it to its former character and preserving it for future generations. The restoration quickly became a family and company endeavor, involving their children and the growing crew who shared the same commitment to quality craftsmanship.
As the company expanded, it became clear the business needed a name that represented more than its founders — it needed an identity rooted in purpose and legacy. From this, 1818 Builders was born, inspired by the historic home restoration that symbolized their dedication to preserving craftsmanship that stands the test of time.
Today, 1818 Builders carries that same mission into every project: improving homes, restoring historic properties, and building work meant to serve families and communities for generations.
Our Faith & Values
Our faith is central to who we are, both personally and in how we operate our company. In the spirit of transparency, we want customers to understand what guides our work and decision-making.
We believe in the saving work of our Lord Jesus Christ and the authority of the Bible as God’s Word. These beliefs shape how we strive to live and conduct business, calling us to practice honesty, integrity, humility, service, accountability, and respect in every project we undertake.
Do we always get it right? No. When mistakes happen, we take responsibility and work to make things right. Our faith reminds us that growth, grace, and accountability matter — both in life and in business.

Do We Even Build?
It’s a fair question.
While the term builder often refers to companies constructing new homes, 1818 Builders currently specializes in home improvements, historic home restoration, and metal roofing rather than new home construction.
The “Builders” in our name reflects both what we do today and where we’re headed. Much of our work involves improving, restoring, and strengthening existing homes — often preserving historic craftsmanship while bringing structures up to modern standards.
Looking ahead, we plan to expand into timber frame home construction, reviving a centuries-old building tradition known for strength, beauty, and longevity. Our goal is to blend historic craftsmanship with modern building science to create homes meant to last generations.
For now, our focus remains on delivering exceptional improvement and restoration work, building quality into every project we touch.
